書籍介紹
這是第一本台灣原住民族的文學史，對認識原住民族文學有很大的幫助。作者基於仍在口耳相傳的神話、傳說，代表著原住民的價值精神，且「口傳文學」須文字化，方能因累積實存而延續發展，故以母題情節為準，大篇幅介紹整理各原住民族的傳說故事。再兼評西元1895年迄今、秉持傳統文化精神的現代「作家文學」作品。
本書首開先例，系統化整理、分析、評論原住民族文學，並分判大致發展歷程。雖以漢文書寫，但仍徹底呈現以原住民族為主體的精神思想。
