National Chi Nan University (NCNU) is nestled in Puli Township, Nantou County, Taiwan, surrounded by majestic mountains and near the iconic Sun Moon Lake, one of Taiwan’s most renowned tourism destinations. Established in 1995, NCNU is a comprehensive national university guided by a vision of “local engagement and global connection.” Today, the university serves approximately 6,635 students and boasts nearly 30,000 alumni worldwide.
Commitment to Sustainability and Global Rankings
NCNU has made sustainability a cornerstone of its institutional development. The university has ranked among the world’s top 50 in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings for eight consecutive years, achieving an impressive 44th place globally in 2024. Recognized as one of Taiwan’s leading universities in sustainability, NCNU actively promotes a low-carbon campus, energy conservation, plastic reduction initiatives, and sustainability education.
