本書由墾丁國小3-6年級學生集體創作，小朋友寫墾丁生活週遭的人地事物，配上充滿童趣的繪圖，是一本旅遊叢書，也是一本鄉土、語文、藝術最佳閱讀刊物，加上英文翻譯，雙語呈現，讓師生做英文閱讀練習，也適用於外國朋友閱讀。

辦一所「好玩的南極小學」，是我對墾丁小孩的承諾。
多年來，辛苦的老師們，絞盡腦汁，設計出數不盡的創意活動，帶領學生上山下海，追風玩沙，玩遍了恆春半島的每個角落。
出版一本「孩子們自己的書」，是「墾丁人」一個共同的夢！
感謝剛退休的好友蕭秀芳校長，接受我的邀約，成為本校一位「駐校作家」，為三年級以上師生進行作文示範教學。
我們的老師，指導孩子們細說墾丁生活的點點滴滴，耐心鼓勵孩子們寫出內心知道的墾丁大小事，於是，孩子們一篇篇充滿童趣的創意小文，源源不絕的出現了。神奇的墾丁國小串成滿滿的一個圓。
以前我們知道：墾丁外面的大人們，為墾丁的藍天白雲吸引，前來追星尋夢；我們也看到：墾丁裡面的大人，為遠道而來的客人，忙進忙出；這一次，透過孩子的筆，我們真正知道了墾丁的孩子們在想什麼？做什麼？玩什麼？學什麼？
因為，珍惜孩子的文字和純真的心情，為讓墾丁的孩子留下一個難忘的回憶、為呈現墾丁國小的教學成效，為讓大家分享孩子們在墾丁的生活，我們決定出版「墾丁．孩子的天堂」這本書。
不是為了出書而出書，是為一件有意義的事。

Foreword by Principal of Kenting Elementary School
To create a school that is fun here in the southernmost region of Taiwan is a promise I've made to the children of Kenting.
For years,the teachers of Kenting Elementary School have been racking their brains in an attempt to design all sorts of fun and educational activities for the children.We have taken the children on local trips to explore the mountains and the seas.We have let them sail in the wind and play in the sand.We have traveled with them to every corner of Hengchun Peninsula.
As a member of the Kenting community,it has always been a dream of mine to publish something which truly belongs to the children.It is dream I share with many other members of the community.
I am truly grateful to my friend,Principal Shiou-Fang Shiau.She had just retired,and fortunately,she was willing to accept my invitation to become the first"resident writing teacher"at Kenting Elementary School.It was Principal Shiau who was responsible for teaching creative writing to the third,Fourth,fifth,and sixth graders.
Under the teaching expertise of Principal Shiau and the guidance of the Kenting Elementary School teachers,the children were encouraged to write whatever was in their hearts about their lives in Kenting.It wasn't long before these stories began to magically appear,one after another.
Tourists have long been coming to Kenting for its blue sky and beautiful water.We have seen the adults of Kenting working hard towards being gracious hosts to these visitors.Now,Through these stories,we will see what the children of Kenting arethinking,doing,playing,and learing.
We have decide o publish the book,Kenting---Children's Paradise not only because we want to present the educational quality of the school,but more importantly,wewant to create something meaningful and memorable for the children.We also hope the world can get a glimpse of what the children's lives are like in Kenting.
We believe this book is something meaningful,and that is why we published it.
