書籍介紹
台灣推理小説的發展，具有與台灣文學史相同共存的現代性特質。台灣的推理小説，從日治時期開始至今，不論是理論或創作，都深受日本的影響，尤其是關於「本格」的探索。
關於台灣推理小説的發展和流派，陳國偉教授屢有論述。為這一專輯而寫的導言，簡要概述之外，推陳出新，提出台灣推理小説作爲「文學現代性的起點」的新觀點，將上世紀六〇年代台灣現代主義風潮，提前到日治時期引進偵探小説的19 世紀後半，當台灣第一部偵探小説於1898年1 月7 日首次出現之時。

Kuo-ch'ing Tu, born in Taichung, Taiwan, graduated from National Taiwan University (1963) with a major in English literature. He received his MA in Japanese literature from Kwansei Gakuin University (1970) and his PhD in Chinese literature from Stanford University (1974). His research interests include Chinese literature, Chinese poetics and literary theories, comparative literature East and West, and world literatures of Chinese.
Terence Russell is Senior Scholar in the Asian Studies Center at the University of Manitoba. His research interest is the literature of Taiwan's Indigenous people. His publications include studies of Adaw Palaf, Auvini Kadresengan, and Syaman Rapongan. Dr. Russell has been a regular contributor to Taiwan Literature: English Translation Series and now serves as co-editor for the journal. His most recent publication is a translation of The Spirit of Jade Mountain, by Husluman Vava (Cambria, 2020).
